Audience Feedback (Interviews)

An essential aspect that would guarantee a large array of success to my music magazine is being able to correctly identify the target ausinces underlying needs, interests and apparrel. It was necessary therefore for my product to bycott exactly what they anticipated to see conventions and layout wise, this would ensure they would be interested in what I had produced and would hopefully encourage them to buy it if it was marketed in a retail orientated environment. With my reading range aimed at males and femaes of between the ages 18-25, I sought out to retrieve individuals who conformed to this requirement so I could interview them personally to reveal exatly what they desired to see i  music themed publications of my chosen genre (indie/alternative rock) However the unfortunate circumstance arose that I could not obtain anyone who fitted specifically with my chosen age range due to work or college comittments, in this instance I had to turn to audience members of under 18, this may be disregarding what I intally set out to uncover yet it would provide me with a valuable starting point as if I could uncover what the younger readers found negative about a music product, then I could incoproate it into the final look to act as a repellent, ultimately I would then be aiming at my sole adult age range.

From all of the under 18's who were interviewed for the feedback videos a number of key traits can be identified from the responses they delivered to me. The majority seemed to be intrigued by magazines with bright colours and large images of bands and album reviews, this conforms to the standard that I expected from all readers in general that large photographs were a main strategy of getting eye line approval from them. However I desire to disband from their notion how they want a bright colour palette throughout the publication, with mine focusing upon more darker, deeper indie/alternative rock music which songs generally contain an underlying, thoughtful meaning to them, I feel a dull scheme of red, black and white would be most appropriate to suit the requirements of the songs being explored. Ultimately this factor alone may deter them from purchasing the product and would be more suited to an adult audience who can decipher mature themes more easily. What I noted highly was that all but one did not want to pay over £3 for the purchase of the magazine itself, I had already set the baseline for a regular price of £3 upwards as this would be more affordable to the adult generation who are the niche I am aiming to attract, this may prevent younger individuals from buying it allowing me to specifically acquire the readers I intended to. Most importantly two out of the three described that their main music interests were of pop/chart categories, with the remaining explaining how he enjoyed rock (such as Oasis for example). This gives me positive feedback regarding my content, I predicted not many under 18's would be enthralled by my selected genre and as what can be witnessed in these videos that is indeed a correct assumption. Moreover this gives me the confidence to suggest that I will essentially gain the required audience members (18-25) as it seems mature music is overall suited to a more adult generation. Of the response that said he did enjoy this subtype of music, I assume this is due to him appearing and acting more mature for his age then the opposite duo, a maturer mindset can furthermore process more deeper, complex issues and information which could be the reason my chosen genre is of concern to him and his personal tastes.

Indefinitely it is vital I take into account the thoughts, opinions and views that were expressed here, gaining authentic audience feedback gives me a very clear insight into the mental processes of my readers allowing me to see their honest judgements without any form of bias intruding on the data collected. What I've learnt here will be manipulated to my own advantage to ensure not only the main conventions are included in the production, but that certain aspects that this audience found discouraged are attended to  and included as a strategy to appeal to my niche readers that were specifically described and not the age band I am avoiding.
